Take your wine knowledge to the next level with a WSET Level 3 Award in Wines. Join as at a renewed winery in Puglia, Italy, and get your advanced international qualification on wine. 


WSET Level 3 Award in Wines provides a detailed analysis of the principal wines of the world through an internationally recognised qualification. Students also benefit from professional tastings, with the aim of learning to identify wine style and quantity. This qualification, taught in English, is perfect for professionals working in the wine industry, that had already started a WSET career by obtaining the WSET Level 2 qualification or demonstrating the equivalent level of knowledge.

WSET 3 course focuses on wine production and wine styles, providing in-depth knowledge of wine regions, sparkling and fortified wines. Advanced preparation with course text is highly recommended. WSET courses also help students to improve their communication skills in English.

WSET Level 3: program outline

Unit 1 – Wines of the World

  • Production of Wine (location, viticulture, vinification, maturation and bottling, labelling regulations)
  • France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Central and South Eastern Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, North America, South and Central America
  • Sparkling Wines
  • Fortified Wines
  • Information for customers and wine business’ staff

Unit 1 is assessed by a multiple choice paper of 50 questions and a question paper requiring short written answers.

Unit 2 – Tasting and Evaluating Wines of the World

  • WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting – how to taste wines and evaluate the quality, style and price
  • We will taste around 80 premium wines, many of which unavailable in Italy.

Unit 2 is evaluated by a blind tasting paper of two wines.

Successful students will receive an official certificate and a lapel pin.

Please note: students should enrol early enough to receive the course materials and study in advanced for the course.

Entry requirements

Students should hold a WSET Level 2 certification OR must pass the Level 3 Application Test. (€30, refunded if the student subsequently enrols on one of Wine Academy Italia’s WSET courses). This 30-minute has a pass mark of 75%.

Candidates must also have a good level of English (no English language certification is required).
